The Department of Civil Engineering of this Institute started in 1964 with the inception of this polytechnic with an intake capacity of 30 students which has been increased to 60 From the year 1995 the Distance Learning Mode was introduced with the intake capacity of 60 seats, out of which, 30 seats are reserved for the on job candidates, for enhancing their qualification.

The department has its own Hydraulic, P.H.E. and Transportation Laboratory along with well-equipped Survey Store. The Department is in the process of developing a versatile CAD Center.

The Department has seven faculties out of them three are having post graduate qualification. The Head of the Department is at present holding the charge of the Principal.

The Department looks after the following activities of the Institute:

(1) Maintenance of the Campus and Staff Quarters in liaison with P.W.D.
(2) Learning Resource & Utility Center with Multi-Media Center
(3) The Students’ Chapter of Institution of Engineers
(4) The National Cadet Corps’ Army Wing with 55 Cadets on roll.
(5) The NCC portfolio is being shouldered by one of the faculties Shri M G Purohit of this department having the rank of Lieutenant.
